Royal Air Maroc, first African airline to receive Cargo iQ Certification
Royal Air Maroc has just obtained the Cargo iQ certification, becoming the first African airline to pass the audit of compliance with the standards of the interest group, which within IATA, has the mission to create and implement quality standards for the global air cargo industry.
“With this distinction, the national airline joins major world air carriers, major players in the supply chain (including freight forwarders) and preeminent global IT solution providers,” Royal Air Maroc said in a statement.
This certification, valid for three years and renewable, follows the Moroccan national airline’s 2019 membership in Cargo iQ, a non-profit membership group supported by IATA and founded in 1997. With more than 60 members worldwide, it totals approximately 12 million airport-to-airport shipments measured annually, 4 million door-to-door shipments measured annually and annual data exceeding 110 million lines.
Its members have developed a shipment planning and performance tracking system for air cargo based on common business processes and milestones. As part of this system, the Master Operating Plan (MOP) describes the standard end-to-end process for air cargo transportation.
