Niger : Inauguration of the renovated Mano Dayak International Airport in Agadez under ASECNA management

The Minister of Transport, Mr. Alma Oumarou, proceeded on Wednesday, June 16, to the inauguration of the Mano Dayak International Airport of Agadez, which was rehabilitated and modernized in 2016 under the Agadez Sokni program. Thus, this airport, which now meets international standards, comes under the community management of the Agency for the Safety of Air Navigation in Africa and Madagascar (ASECNA).

The handover ceremony was attended by the Director General of ASECNA, Mr. Mohamed Moussa, the PCA of ASECNA as well as regional authorities, namely the Governor of the Region of Agadez, Mr. Sadou Saloké, the President of the Regional Council of Agadez, Mr. Mohamed Anako, the Mayor of the urban municipality of Agadez, Mr. Abdourahmane Aboubacar Touraoua, the Sultan of Aïr and several other guests.

It should be recalled that on July 30, 2020, during its 65th meeting, the ASECNA Committee of Ministers of Transport decided to include the Mano Dayak International Airport of Agadez in the list of community airports managed by the Agency. This will add to the Zinder airport, which will be under ASECNA management by early 2020.

For the Agadez region, known as a tourist area and an important international crossroads, the event was welcomed with real enthusiasm. Indeed, in addition to the enormous opportunities that its international service will offer, this airport will boost tourism in this region which has immense potential in this area.
