MOROCCO: INAUGURATION OF A BUSINESS AND PRIVATE AVIATION TERMINAL BUILT BY JETEX IN DAKHLA
Dakhla Airport has a new terminal entirely dedicated to business and private aviation, mobilizing an investment of 10 million dirhams (MDH).
The new terminal of business and private aviation that extends over an area of 424 m² is designed according to the concept FBO “Base of Aeronautical Operations”, whose realization was provided by “Jetex”, an international operator, selected in an international tender launched by the ONDA.
The new terminal has a VIP area with a capacity to handle 19 passengers simultaneously. The Director General of ONDA, Habiba Laklalech said that the airport of Dakhla was chosen to house this terminal dedicated to business and private aviation because of the strong growth of air traffic at this port platform, especially private and business flights: “Air traffic at the airport of Dakhla, especially in private aviation, has experienced significant growth during the year 2022, exceeding 85% compared to 2019.
Regarding commercial air traffic, Dakhla airport has received, during the year 2022, a traffic of 222,480 passengers and 1,848 airport movements, that is to say, recovery rates of about 87% and 72% respectively compared to the year 2019.
The new terminal dedicated to business and private aviation has its own facilities in total independence of the commercial terminal, including a city side access, a vehicle parking lot with a capacity of 20 vehicles, an airside drop-off to take passengers to and from the FBO, in addition to a space dedicated to immigration formalities integrated into the FBO, in an area equipped with all the necessary facilities, to ensure customs formalities.
With this new inauguration, Dakhla airport is now the third airport in Morocco with a terminal dedicated entirely to business and private aviation, after Casablanca Mohammed V airport and Marrakech Menara airport.
